Some scribbles written to whomever who wants to read with an open mind and hopefully gains some knowledge from it. Everything written is subjective as i believe that "to each - its own belief and faith to seek". Everyone seeks God or try to understand the real meaning of their Religion at one point of their life. It does not matter what point it is or how you seek it as long you find the right path and you feel it in you that it is your right path - That is what really Matters!. God Bless.

Legends of Karupasamy ( A)
=====================

When sita was pregnant, Lord Rama has sent her to the forest - to Vishwa Munivargal's (Saint) Ashram to stay until he returns. In Ashram she gave birth to a Male heir for Lord Rama. One day as she was going out to do some chores in the ashram, she has asked the Saint to look after the baby boy in the cradle while she is gone. After she goes, the Saint while looking after the baby boy went into a deep meditation. Sita returns only to find that the Saint was in deep meditation and did not want to disturb him to tell that she is taking the baby boy back.

When the Saint is out of the meditation, he was surprised to see that the cradle was empty and did not know where the baby boy has gone. Fearing for the child has gone missing, He placed some holy grass (Dherbai Grass) and said a mantra to turn the grass into a baby boy.

Soon after, he found out that Sita has actually already taken the baby boy from the cradle while he was in meditation. Not knowing what to do he gave the child to Sita and asked her to bring him up as her own child as well.

When Lord Rama returned to Sita. He was surprised to see 2 boys instead of one. Sensing something is not right, he set a test to know who was his actual heir was. He set a fire and asked the 2 boys to cross it and he said that whoever is his actual son will not be burned by the fire.

While crossing, the boy that was created by the Saint got caught in the fire and was burned and turned black. Sita then told him of what had happened to Lord Rama. He then accepted the 2 boys and blessed the burnt boy and made him his kaval deivam and named him as Karuppannan. Which later changed to Karuppa Samy. Karuppu samy wear three sacred strips( thiru namam) across his forehead.  He is also known as 'Derbaiyil Pirandhavene"  (Born from Derbai Grass).

Legends of Karupasamy ( B)
=======================

Karupasamy is known as a very angry person and is also well known for his speed. Karupasamy was guarding his homeland under the instruction Lord Rama. One full Moon, while he was looking up at the sky, he saw a monkey was flying with a mountain on his hand. As the monkey was flying across the land, Karupasamy took out his bow and arrow and shot down then monkey. Coming to the fallen monkey, he saw that the monkay was covered with jewellery looking like a King. As the monkey got up, he asked the monkey who he was and why he flying across his land.

The Monkey told him that he has Hanuman and he was a great worshipper of Lord Rama. When asked why Hanuman was flying with the mountain, he replied that in the moutain there is a tree with leaf that Laksman (Lord Rama's Brother) must eat so he could be cured.
Pressing for time, Hanuman suddenly shouted to Karupasamy to move away so that he could continue with his journey and pushed Karupasamy aside and moved to pick up the mountain.

Feeling threathen he pushed back the mountain from Hanuman's hand as Hanuman tried to pick it up. Hanuman in angry voice shouted at Karupasamy to move aside but Karupasamy showed no sign of fear just stood infront of the mountain. Hanuman was very angry and asked why Karupasamy is doing this, he replied that he is doing nothing but protecting his home and the surroundings.

Not listening to Karupasamy, Hanuman took out his mukhdhar in anger and
seeing this Karupasamy also pulled out his mukhdar and a great fight between them ensued.

At last Karupasamy manage to tie Hanuman with a rope. Hanuman started to pray to Lord Rama and with his blessings manage to get loose of the rope. Hanuman then brought out his magic and powerful chain and manage to tie it to Karupasamy one leg and the other to a large rock by the ocean.

Then very quickly, Hanuman grabbed the mountain and flew off to Lord Rama in Sri Lanka. Karupasamy in great anger, took out his aruval(Long Sword) and in one swipe cut the chain off. He then took the chain and put it accross his neck as chain and his hands as bracelets. In Anger he was waiting for Hanuman to come back, however Hanuman did not come back and in meantime, he has used the chain to defeat and scare of all demon in the jungle and those who uses the oceans, rivers, seas and lakes to harm the people.

All demons feared him because he was always in anger and in waiting for Hanuman to fly over the land again. After a long , Lord Rama returning home to find Karupasamy in anger then proceeds to explain to him who Hanuman was and why he blessed Hanuman to be able to tie him up with the Magic Chain. Then Lord Rama proceeds to bless him for his devotion and made him the King of all Ocean, Seas, Rivers and Lakes. From that day onwards he was known as the protector of the needy and poor and all those who prays to him will be blessed and protected by him.He would everyone home door from the entering of any evils.

In Lanka & Tamil Nadu, people would pray to him in his highest form Sri Sangili Karupan to guard them from evil and demons. Whomever needs his protection would place Lime, Pepper and Neem Leaf over the door of their house.
